Welcome

The Mahler Student Festival Orchestra (MSFO), founded in 2022, is an international project based in Belgium that brings together young musicians from both within and beyond Europe for regular performances. Their main goal is to give aspiring talents an opportunity to perform monumental symphonic repertoire, providing them with a supportive environment in which they can experience the professional music world for the first time - all while building a strong sense of community within the orchestra and its supporters.

During the projects - consisting of an intensive week of rehearsals, resulting in one or two concerts - the MSFO focuses not only on building strong personal connections between musicians as individuals, but also on the collaboration between musicians and the audience, as well as the local community. Young artists are coached by incredible musicians from top orchestras in Belgium, the Netherlands and France, all rehearsals are open to public, host families take care of musicians during the projects and regular chamber music concerts, social events, parties and games are organized to help create a warm and inclusive environment, interlacing all those willing to participate.

Through the execution of five productions in the last three years, the orchestra has grown into a tight-knit community of regular members, coming together every few months to perform grand symphonies, committed to keeping alive an experience that has grown beyond a single project. The connection between musicians expands through each new project which translates into the performances - each more profoundly human and unmistakably professional than the last.

At the heart of the MSFO lies a joint dedication and passion from all orchestra members to move this project forward through a shared sense of community and voluntary spirit, creating memorable and life-changing learning experiences
